Well, if you send someone off on a wild goose chase, trying to support a claim you made, it takes all the burden off you and you can get bragging rights about how no one had an answer for your intellectual prowess.

Well said. Sad that passes for what some may consider "intellectual prowess." All that and not one able to answer a simple question... from their own text.
And sadly, the dancing and dodging actually IS their answer. And it's not the correct one, which is even worse when souls are in the balance.
