If you understood the questions which were in regard to the Russian Orthodox church opposing the Russia govt which is run by the the Russian mafia, then maybe you would provide some sources for that. Instead of the laughable examples you gave two links to.

First article does not in any way, shape or form oppose or condemn the Russian govt. It is on a meeting held in London that talks of ROC values, Europe and the old Soviet system. What you thought I wouldn’t read it?

Second example is from 2011 and again does not oppose anything as I listed about Russian govt/mafia. It is about a 4 year old election basically says the ROC understands why the people are unhappy with the election. And ROC priests etc should not stir trouble by speaking out. Laughable you would use these two articles and then say sources for your claims are not hard to find! LOL

Paragraph 2... Always a reliable pillar of support for the government of Prime Minister Vladimir V. Putin and his United Russia Party, the powerful Orthodox Church has been noticeably — to some, shockingly — critical of the elections. Arguably the only major national institution outside the state, the church could potentially play a significant role as the current political and social crisis unfolds.

more... The criticism has grown so heated that Patriarch Kirill, keenly aware of the church’s continuing dependence on the state, has felt compelled to warn priests to watch their Internet tongues, saying, “Careless and sometimes intentionally provocative statements by priests cast a shadow on all of God’s church.”

The whole tone of the article is ROC’s Patriarch Kirill telling priests, nuns etc to tow the line and don’t cause trouble for the church by speaking out publicly.

more... Andrei Zubov, a historian who has studied Russian church-state relations, said the Russian Orthodox Church today had modeled itself on the Kremlin — “The church is building approximately the same kind of authoritarian system as has been built by today’s regime” — and yet was gaining legitimacy as the Kremlin lost ground.

This, he contended, enables Patriarch Kirill to appear as a voice of moderation, a position most likely encouraged by the authorities.

Thank you for providing information which further backs the statements I made earlier in this thread.

Nothing you’ve posted supports your attacks on the memory of of Father Hopko, a man who dedicated his life to Christ’s Gospel.
