Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Character Studies From The Bible

Moses

New International Version (NIV)

17 When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” 18 So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. The Israelites went up out of Egypt ready for battle.

19 Moses took the bones of Joseph with him because Joseph had made the Israelites swear an oath. He had said, “God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up with you from this place.”

20 After leaving Sukkoth they camped at Etham on the edge of the desert. 21 By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. 22 Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

In one of the most poignant scenes in this Epic Story, Moses fulfills a Promise made to Joseph over 400 years earlier. In the 2006 version of "The Ten Commandments", a great deal is made of this issue, and the meeting place for Moses and the Elders of the people takes place in the tomb of Joseph. Cecil B. DeMille also does homage to this event during the enormous "Exodus Scene", accompanied by a beautiful song written for the movie.

Joseph's Tomb is still visible in Shechem, now known as Nablus, and has been the target of wanton destruction and vandalism by the Arabs that live there. In 2010, it was nearly destroyed, but it still stands. I have gotten a lot of images from that incident, so you can see for yourself. What Pharaoh, The Saracens, the Romans, and the Ottomans could not destroy will also rise above these vandals. Am Yisroyel Chai!

Come and pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

_ AND it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:

But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.

And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.

And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.

And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

The members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, some of which date from the days of the Apostles, suffer under cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
