It’s interesting that so much of what the Catholic Church teaches and demands leads back to it’s time of Constantine and the marriage of paganism and Christianity.

Just more self-flagellation with a dash of pride thrown in.
Pride? What are you giving up for Lent?!? I'm giving up chocolate! It is soooo hard!

How do you know what a Roman Catholic is giving up for Lent? Easy! They’ll tell you within 15 seconds!

Verily I say they have their reward “in full”.

Roland Barnes, pastor Trinity Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Statesboro, Ga. He also serves on the board of the Christian Missionary Society.
Preach to your own flock, OK?
Who gives a hoot what you have to say.
Lenten sacrifice is a personal thing, and it is not for you to say publicly what your self-centered ideas are,at least if you expect credibility.

How about what God says?
Matthew 6:16 "When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

She has as much right to post as you. If y’all do not like it, ignore it. That is what others do.

Fellow Catholics: don't be troubled by these posts that attempt to undermine the ONE TRUE HOLY CATHOLIC APOSTOLIC FAITH.
Have a blessed, soul-searchingly profitable Lent!

While it is certainly appropriate for Christians to observe times of fasting and sober reflections as an expression of their devotion to their Lord, it is quite a different matter for the church to bind the consciences of believers with observances which are not mandated in Scripture. That's Catholicism in a nutshell.
And they even try to misquote Scripture to justify it.

Morality and goodness are totally divorced from any and all religions. Maybe some people take comfort in going to an ornate building on Sundays and with their fingers crossed behind their backs profess a belief in Santa Claus. There’s nothing wrong with that, whatever gets you through the night.

Are you saying that you don’t believe in obeying the Commandment: “Keep holy the Lord’s Day?”

Where does it say that? Not once in scripture does it call the first day of the week "the Lord's day".

Fellow Catholics: don't be troubled by these posts that attempt to undermine the ONE TRUE HOLY CATHOLIC APOSTOLIC FAITH.Unless they are prompted by the Holy Spirit..they will not be "bothered"
BTW there is no "apostolic succession" in the NT church

My comments were directed to Roland Barnes, not the person who posted a one-year-old article.
Roland Barnes appears to me to be very anti-Catholic, so his judgmental criticism is not surprising.
Fasting and penance are mentioned many times in the Bible and that’s basically what Lenten Observance is, a sacrifice undertaken (by Catholics, at least) with some humility, which seems to be lacking in Roland Barnes writings.
