Simon de Montfort Sr took his own funds, raised an army and took the cross for christ to the Cathars - the Pure Ones. Christian Churches sheltered the Cathars to protect them from the crusaders. When asked how to tell which was christian or cathar it was said "Kill Them All, God Will Know His Own"
Christian heresies are not new and are ripe targets.
.....Only to come back later in the person of Martin Luther, the 1500’s.
Ok, the Albigensians were dualistic gnostics from most sources or accounts. I fully understand that as such they were not in communion with any type of orthodox Christian beliefs.
However, where did Jesus Christ give His flock the right to take up the sword against another group of people not involved in armed combat?
The Holy Spirit sorts out souls. Not our swords.

I know but little about the Abigensian Crusade, but the little I know sure looks like a protracted series on crimes and aggressions on the part of Simon de Montfort et al.
So educate me (I know I’m ignorant) — was there a Muslim connection? Really?
