A Roman Catholic priest fell into a grave while praying at the burial...
A police statement...said...as he was praying over the coffin at a cemetery near Brasilia, the ground suddenly gave way and he and three others...fell into the grave.
The priest was not immediately available for comment but the G1 news portal quoted him as saying the incident "ruined the moment.

How about this story? "[Opera singer Richard] Versalle died on 5 January 1996, while portraying Vitek (an elderly law clerk) in what was to have been the Metropolitan Opera premiere of Janáček's The Makropulos Case. Only a few minutes into the performance, and after singing the line "You can only live so long" while halfway up a 20-foot (6 meter) ladder, he suffered a fatal heart attack, and fell onto the stage." Here's the link to wikipedia, original source at footnote there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Versalle

A barfly walking home decided to take a shortcut through a cemetery. There was a full moon so, although he was staggering he didn’t worry about barking his shin on a grave marker.
But the moon went behind a cloud, he didn’t see an open grave and toppled in.
After trying to climb out, he gave up, curled up in a corner and passed out.
Same facts, but a priest comes along.
He tries to climb out as well with no success.
He prays, and the prayer wakes up the drunk.
In a thick, low voice the drunk says, “You’ll never get of here buddy ...”.
And the priest vacated the hole like a cork out of a champagne bottle.

"The priest was not immediately available for comment " -- because he was 6 feet underground on top of a coffin.

Sounds like a Dave Allen at Large skit.

Im going out on a limb here, but I suspect this happens more than we hear about.
Weddings often have some kind of amusing goof, and they practice them ahead of time.
