“My priest preached an excellent homily on this today. (His homilies are usually excellent.)”
What I wouldn’t give for a priest who had any interest in preaching an excellent homily.
My priest truly is a treasure. We have only one priest, as I live in a small town. He is not as orthodox on some issues as I wish he were, but he sure can bring a gospel reading to life and show you how to apply it to your life.
When I visit my favorite sister and we attend Mass at her church it is quite evident why she is so taken with my priest’s sermons. They have 4 priests, and only one of them is a decent preacher — and he’s not that great. The other 3 just read their sermons.
Favorite sister loves hearing my priest. And we always agree that his homily gives you a little tidbit to carry around with you all week.
