...I hate it when educated nobel laureates describe their eyewitness accounts of events....

Even the snake in the garden quoted God, but with a slight addition. God said "eat and you will die". Satan quoted as "eat or touch and you will die".

Uh...

You'd best re-read chapter 3 of Genesis...

I see you've got it right now.

It makes me wonder with Adam and Eve, who added the touching restriction. Did Adam add the restriction when he taught Eve? Did Eve add the restriction when she was challenged by the snake?

Yes; these are interesting questions.

SOMEbody sure made the addition; didn't they!

She also knew it was in the MIDDLE of the garden...

Fwiw, my aim is rarely as true as I'd like it to be and my perfectionist nature gets me into constant trouble, so no apology needed with me.

Me; too!

But I want the other GUYS to be perfect.

My peccadillos always seem to have some valid reason behind them.

Deception is one of his tricks, no doubt. And, for that matter, so is doubt itself.

Satan also knows that a house divided cannot stand and that His House divided is weak and His followers weaker still, lost and easy to manipulate and destroy.

He has thousands of years to figure out how to make us dance to his tunes and play his games.

These fights between the Houses of God, East, West, North and South, such as the Protestant vs. Catholics, only help Satan do his thing to take us down.

Sad to watch how effective he is, especially among those who have memorized so much Scripture, but seem to lack the heart that follows belief, such as that shown by Francis A. Schaeffer's The Mark of the Christian.

Instead, we're proud and arrogant and we do so love to fight about who loves Daddy best. Cain vs Esau?

Those things show a closed heart and a fullness of one's self such that the Holy Spirit is not welcome. Their understanding is sufficient that He isn't needed. Despite their claims to the contrary, their actions reveal their truth.

^^That^^ is the deception trap in which Satan has captured many a rational mind. The examples are easy to find. Most of us merely need to look in the mirror.

Another deception trap is revealed by those who say that an act of God, His miracles, for example, is the work of Satan, something a heart open to the Holy Spirit's wisdom would never do.

But what do I know? Not much beyond realizing that I'm one of the most unworthy of God's creation. Why He shows me His favor is another of His mysteries.

I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said, "Stop! Don't do it!"
"Why shouldn't I?" he said.

I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!"
He said, "Like what?"

I said, "Well...are you religious or atheist?"
He said, "Religious."

I said, "Me too! Are you Christian or Buddhist?"
He said, "Christian."

I said, "Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?"
He said, "Protestant."

I said, "Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?"
He said, "Baptist!"

I said,"Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of GOD or Baptist Church of the Lord?"
He said, "Baptist Church of GOD!"

I said, "Me too! Are you Original Baptist Church of GOD, or are you Reformed Baptist Church of GOD?"
He said,"Reformed Baptist Church of GOD!"

I said, "Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of GOD, reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of GOD, reformation of 1915?"
He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of GOD, reformation of 1915!"

I said, "Die, heretic scum", and pushed him off.

The Bible does not say anyone has to be Catholic to be saved. Read John 3:16. Does it mention any denomination? Some people will fall for anything. I was saved as a kid. When were you? Just curious.

...."Catholocism is the one subset of Christianity that most resembles idolatry".....

You're being far more generous than I would be in saying it's a subset of Christianity...I'm more inclinded saying this is not Christianity it is paganism...It is repulsive and shows the true colors of catholicism's ritualistic religion.

Offering Incense and praying before a corpse is paganism.

I’ve been further studing the scriptiures regarding catholicism today....I can easily see how the UFO New Age Spiritualists will swallow the bait of catholicism...and the Pope will lead all the other religions in believing THE LIE when it comes.....so no doubt the catholic leadership will have the reason that all can piggy back with them in explaining moreso why the catholic leadership ‘is still here’ and didn’t go in the rapture.

It will be all religions combining in a worldwide "brotherly love", "let's all get along", "we can put our differences aside" sort of way. The pope leads the way.

.....”It will be all religions combining in a worldwide “brotherly love”, “let’s all get along”, “we can put our differences aside” sort of way. The pope leads the way”....

We already see this developing now......

BTW...I was checking further on definition of a cult......we generally have used a secular description, and though it’s applicable it usuallly isn’t from a ‘Christian position’.

Well, I found this and believe it’s the best definition I’ve found to date.... What do you think?

...”A Cult is that which ‘claims’ to be rooted in hisotrical Christianity but has deflected or abandoned the finished work of Christ or compromised on His person.”.....

Jesus said we are “complete” in Him. So when one adds or detracts you’re impuning the completed work of Christ on the Cross. No matter what you name it it wouldn’t be historical Christianity at that point.

That is certainly one of the signs for a cult. Others include the one leader that all are subject to.

...”That definition works for me”....

Me too because so many cults and false religions lay claims to ‘Historical’ Christianity...and use that to entice people...yet when they deviate, add-on and or abandon from the centrality of Christ and his finished work they can no longer claim Christianity's ‘Historical’ roots.
