Dang it. I was an altar boy for three years and I never got ordained. I'm suing.
Remember when it was “controversial” for girls to serve at the altar?
I wish they wouldn’t have the right to vote either.
Hey, if they want to go to the Anglican Church a/k/a the church of lesbianism and pederasty, that is their decision.
It's past time people woke up to this fact. I just hope it's not too late.
As I expected, the article only quotes those who disagree with the pastor.
If this parish has been using female servers since the 70s then they were in violation of Canon law for 20-odd years as this INDULT allowing female servers was only granted in 1994.
The pastor is doing the right thing. God bless him and give us many more like him.
Why doesn’t he tell the little girls that boys need to do the clean-up and set-up at mass so they learn to be humble servants of God,and not big-headed pimps and thugs?
Girls are absolutely “good enough” to draw near to Jesus. They just might not need the lesson that the altar boy job is teaching.
“’It just kind of makes me feel that Im not good enough because Im a girl,’ said a 7th grader at the school who wishes to stay anonymous.”
And as soon as you learn that it’s not about you, but about effacing yourself before God, it will make sense. Make it about God, and it will not be important if you are allowed to be an altar server in your parish.
“Jesus is Lord” is the oldest Christian creed. He leads and the Church should follow because He is Lord. Many believers in Jesus were women, but He chose none of them to be among the Twelve Apostles. That is the way God wanted it, and we accept His will as perfect.
God made women to help Him bring about physical life, while He appointed men to help Him bring about spiritual life. Are we in our arrogance going to criticize God’s perfect will?
Only if your parents are teaching you such a thing. It certainly isn't from the Church.
“Connie Porciuncula?”
What a moniker!
Luke 8:2-3 shows us that many women followed Jesus and his apostles to help support them. Based on Holy Bible passages, I dont support women priests. But altar girls arguably reflect the women who supported Jesus and his apostles imo.
Well that’s fine, let em go,they should go ahead and join a flavor of religion that meets with their morals and desires and strictures. If they don’t like the tenants and strictures of the Catholic church they can be Protestants, or Seventh Day Adventists, Baptists,Lutherans or whatever, but join a church you agree with don’t expect or demand the church to change for you.
I remember when my church allowed girls, I went into raptures.
I’ve never agreed with having girls as alter servers.
I wonder how many of those are "pro-choice" Cafeteria-Catholics (aka Pelosi-Catholics).
Well........bye.
