BUT, Christ also said when you see these things know that the time is at hand....

We do not know the hour, minute and second, but you better start taking a hard look around.

In order for the “peace and security” to be in place, there has to be a peace treaty. With all that is going on today, it’s the perfect time for the New World Order types to get the Muslims in check with a nice peace treaty. Maybe after Isaiah 17. That should make everybody into a peace freak.

But it will not last. And that’s when more warfare comes. When everything is peaceful and secure. The whole world will be fooled, except for those who plan the destruction of Israel and will just be biding their time. And of course us. We will not be fooled, having read prophecy.

Meanwhile, the Singularity will come in 2017. Everyone thinks it will be later than that.

You can’t dodge the “peace and safety” even if that is from the point of view of unbelievers. Right now unbelievers seem to be quite worried.

Seems to be the case...The calm before the storm...

Sorry, 99.99999999999999999999% chance you are wrong.

Perhaps - but the trends toward globalization bring us ever closer to putting all the pieces together for the "Thief" to deem the time is right....

I have no idea what you are trying to get at there. What’s your point?

It’s that the biblical tone seems to be that it’s going to happen when almost nobody is worrying about it. Faith will dwindle so much that almost nobody will care.

So far the church has had more lives than the proverbial cat.

And, we should thank the Lord for the corresponding spiritual sustenance. Sometimes “oh woe, it’s all going to hell” is an excuse for “I just don’t feel like praising the Lord for His wonderful gifts right in the middle of this ‘hell’.” And that has to irritate the Lord who saved us.

>>Faith will dwindle so much that almost nobody will care.<<

And we do see that on a large scale today. Even within so called "churches".

Calling the current mood a declaration of “peace and safety” seems rather illogical to me.

For one really major thing why would we have a global warming scare? It’s not generating much peace and the associated declaration is not safety but danger.

The profile of caring is still very high compared with many historical norms. We also sin sometimes by asking, foolishly, “why were the old days better.” This causes us to ignore the potential of today.

I agree in one sense.

It’s folly to have a faith of “countryism.” Christ won’t brook rivals. There is no “God-and” to worship. It irritates me to see people more interested in crosses than in the One who died upon the cross. I wouldn’t go to the extent of calling it Kool Aid but I understand the sentiment.

Whether the end times are about to play out on the schedule you’re outlining... we at best can answer that with an emphatic maybe. Only God knows what is in people’s souls, and whether yet another God-focused revival is in the cards.

If you don't understand the mistakes of the past you are apt to repeat them in the future. I don't think it's necessarily so that we "ignore the potential of today".

How about avoiding both sins, Bear.

For every mention of “Look, fields white for harvest” there are about 99 of “world’s going to hell.” Could there be a proportion problem here?

And incidentally, the Lord is the best teacher, not “mistakes of the past.” That casts wisdom in a humanistic light if we are not very careful.

Or perhaps you don't see the two statements meaning the same thing?

Romans 15:4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come.

Perhaps “quickly” does not mean sooner in time but too fast to do anything about it when it does come. It will be irrevocable and with no further warning. In a sense it is already too late, but everyone will realize it is Too Late at the same time, and suddenly.

Yep - the time is the biggest unknown - Once He returns, it's game over.

Don't know if I should hope for it to happen in my remaining time or be glad if it doesn't...gonna be a rough ride heading into it.

My friend don’t be salty... every generation did not live in an EXPONENTIAL day as ours... We have internet and not smoke signals.... we have Nuclear bombs and not spears and cannons.. etc... The whole world is raging and there is no more room to hide. I don’t even have to mention the Bible or Messiah’s second coming. Its clear for all to see!

That verse refers to unbelievers... read it again my friend.

Shalom!
