Anybody can say anything, but the proof is in the pudding as the saying goes. How well do you know the Bible? There is so much there which goes directly against God’s Word, tioga. God’s Word reveals things about Himself and what His will is for us. So, any Christian Church has to say it worships God alone. But then the Church should follow through on the claim. Those prayers, though, give powers, traits and abilities to Mary that God alone has. I think as Christians we understand that in Christ we’ve been given a gift which has no comparison to anything else that any religion or any worldly thing or person could offer. And having the Lord, then, I won’t go to anyone else. One of these prayers says for our desire to be for Mary, but mine is for the Lord! And I’m sure from Mary’s words when Elizabeth greeted her that’s a joyful desire that Mary shares with all who do. And I also honor her. I’m always inspired by her faith and what is revealed about God by what’s recorded about her. But the only person I will ever go to in prayer is God.

A local Council of the Church (actually two) the Council of Carthage and the Council of Rome, and the Pope, Pope Damascus I. It was compiled from the Scriptures that were read at Mass, see the links below.
When the Gnostic Gospels came in the 2nd Century, the Church needed to find out which books belong in the Bible. So the Church form the Councils that listed OT, plus the 27 NT books.
Though collections of sacred writings, varying in extent, existed in the various local Churches of Christendom, the canon or official list of Scripture was only compiled by the Church toward the end of the fourth century-at Hippo in 393, Carthage in 397, whence it was sent to Rome for confirmation in 419. The Bible may be called the notebook of the Church, and she has always claimed to be the guardian, exponent, and interpreter of it. . . .
By these Councils, the Bible we see today came into be. These Councils are Catholic. How do we know? Well, St. Ignatius of Antioch called the Christian Church Catholic. Let me quote him, “Where there is Jesus Christ, there is the Catholic Church.” (Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church)

God has used everything imaginable to preserve his word. Even the unclean:
Egyptians preserving the Israelites from famine.
Philistines protecting David from King Saul.
Ravens feeding Elijah.
The Gentile widow taking in Elijah.
The child Jesus kept safely in Egypt, away from Herod.
Paul, nearly executed by the Jews, was saved by the Roman soldiers.
How much of Paul epistles were written after that last attempt on his life?
One can claim to have had a part in preserving the Word, but how good is the understanding of it by the same folks?
Neither Jesus Christ, nor his apostles EVER called him ‘God the Son’. It was ALWAYS the phrase ‘Son of God’.
That teaching is foundational to understanding the Godhead.
Jesus and his apostles are right; those that teach contrary are wrong.
If one teaches contrary to the Word of God, they are not preserving the Word of God.

i have no problem with that but those words are the apostles creed from way back. they define what a christian is and believes. yes in english. my point is that we should be uniting around what we believe.

Who in the sam hill ever said the Catholic Church was “anti-science?” It’s so pro-science it’s willing to throw whole swaths of the Bible away. And I noticed there was no refutation of that very obvious flaw, btw.

i agree. i’m protestant, and a little pentacostal to boot. I posted the apostles creed earlier as the core beliefs that we all can unite around. It’s what defines a christian and i’m pretty sure catholics adhere to the apostles creed. i think your recite it in your service. luther split over the selling of indulgences to save your relatives in purgatory which was pretty corrupt. On the protestant side the continually splitting up keeps the corruption localized. one pastor does something stupid you can move on. it’s not the true church, it’s a place to worship.

Well you could be right. We should be doing what Paul told the Romans:

16 Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.(KJV)
How about that? Right there in Holy Scriptures!
Given some of the inclinations of some clergy, I’d be careful.
