So who are the Ishmael people today?

I was under the perception that they were the Palestinians but now it seems like the Palestinians are mostly Arabs from Egypt and Saudi Arabia and Jordan so perhaps they were the Edomites and has been dispersed and blended into all the regions and lost, interesting stuff anyway

Actually the Edomites were the descendants of Esau, Jacobs twin brother who sold his birthrite for a bowl of red soup.
