Rick Santorum: “We Need to Wake Up the Church” to Confront Abortion
LIFE NEWS ^ | 12/18/14 | Josh Shepherd

Many observers have called 2014 the “Year of the Bible Movie” and it’s easy to see why. A vast array of faith-based films have released this year, some to significant success including Heaven is for Real, Irreplaceable and Son of God.

But Rick Santorum says we can do more than entertain with films. “Yes, we make films for the church,” he said recently at The Heritage Foundation. “We need to wake up the church!”

As CEO of Echolight Studios, Santorum aims to do just that with the new documentary film One Generation Away. His group invites local churches to host a free screening of the film on January 13, 2015.

Featuring over 70 leading voices on faith, law and public policy, One Generation Away relies on compelling, first-person stories filmed on-location to reveal its major theme: complete religious liberty creates good for all of society.

The message comes through clear in the segment recapping Burwell v. Hobby Lobby, the Supreme Court case recently decided in favor of the arts-and-crafts chain which employs over 16,000 Americans.

“Life begins at conception,” says Hobby Lobby President Steve Green in the film. “Never in our 237 years as a republic has any government decree made us fund the taking of innocent human life as a condition of continuing business.”

In the court case, Hobby Lobby successfully defended its policy of not covering in employee insurance plans four drugs and devices that can end the life of a pre-born baby. Following months of sustained prayer centered around the case, Bound4LIFE team members joined the crowds outside the Supreme Court who hailed the decision as a victory for life and liberty.

Notably, the film also features those who hold a limited view of religious liberty and its value. “The government is forcing these poor believers to do something that goes against their conscience?” asks Dan Barker, President of Freedom from Religion Foundation. “Millions of good Americans think birth control and abortion are a blessing.”

Others in One Generation Away take the opportunity to rebut Barker’s claims. It features a cross-section of leading pro-life voices, including Gov. Mike Huckabee, Dr. Alveda King (niece of Martin Luther King Jr.), Tony Perkins, Alan Sears (of Alliance Defending Freedom), Stephen Mansfield, Jennifer Marshall and Ryan T. Anderson of The Heritage Foundation, Russell Moore and Bishop Harry Jackson.

Watch for these leaders to reply with grace and a firm understanding of American law when those on the other side, including Mikey Weinstein and Peter Singer, make their case.

Today serving as Co-Chair of Patriot Voices in addition to his role with Echolight Studios, Rick Santorum is best known as a former U.S. Senator and 2012 Presidential Candidate — so he knows a few things about getting attention for a cause. His plan to distribute One Generation Away is raising eyebrows in Hollywood.

“Many churches all over the country have the ability of theatrical-quality projection and sound,” Santorum noted to The Hollywood Reporter. “Instead of trying to encourage our church audience to go to the theater, how about our church audiences go to church?”

Clearly he is committed to spreading the message of One Generation Away to people of faith nationwide; ministry leaders are encouraged to sign up their church, university group, or ministry at no charge for the January 13, 2015 simulcast.

Join us at Bound4LIFE in praying for the church: for believers to wake up, understand what the Bible says on protecting the vulnerable, and exercise their freedoms for life.

Statistics from the last presidential election:

8 out of 10 white Protestants voted for Romney...95% of black Protestants voted for Obama...

You learn a lot when you try to talk pro life politics and voting, and immigration policy here, you see how members of the Catholic team work together, right and left, for a common goal.

Do you condone the use of abortifacient contraceptives?

We don’t actually know the black vote by church membership, but what does the black vote have to do with anything, do you think black voters cost us California, or threaten the electoral votes of Texas?

We don’t work on Catholics voting pro abortion? we don’t try to change the democrats importing millions more pro abortion voting Catholics?

Blacks vote pro abortion democrat, do you anticipate getting a lot of fire from the pro abortion left here at FR for saying that?

Now try saying this, Catholics vote pro abortion democrat, and we are importing millions of those voters and they are turning states democrat.

Do you want to fight for the pro abortion Catholic vote and import more of them?

ME: Do you condone the use of abortifacient contraceptives?

YOU: Do you want to fight for the pro abortion Catholic vote and import more of them?

ME: What's the matter? Can't answer a simple question?

You know, you're right. There is a secret abortion-supporting element on FR. It's the one who claims to be pro-life but when asked if they support the use of abortifacient contraceptives they answer in the following manner: 1) "That's none of your business" 2)"I think I've established my pro-life bona fides" or 3) Answer the question with a question.

Thanks for confirming what I and every other Catholic already knew.

P.S.: I don't normally ping my Catholic brethren to a thread but in this instance felt it was necessary. Please forgive my presumption.

I have never offered an opinion on contraceptives, don’t create one for me.

You do seem to have indicated a position on someone describing catholic voting and importing millions more pro abortion voters.

Abortion and Catholic voting, and immigration, some don’t want the information getting out, although the vote decides abortion.

Do you have one? And if so are you willing to share it?

You think that is the way to change Catholic voting and the vote of the millions of imported future voters?

If you run a politician calling for the end of contraception, what church denomination’s members do you think will be more likely to vote for him, the catholic?

Actually I'm more interested in what you think on the matter.

If you run a politician calling for the end of contraception, what church denomination’s members do you think will be more likely to vote for him, the catholic?

I do, actually. Since we have a body of moral theological work that rejects it. Whereas the protestant does not. Either the following occurs: 1) they argue from a position of scriptural silence that it is permissible; 2)they don't have the moral faculties to form a coherent opinion on the matter; or 3)reject such a call for ending contraception because they are cowards (arguing from political expediency) and hypocrites (because they are practitioners).

As I said in #52, "That fundamental truth that life begins at conception and there can be no exceptions. A truth promulgated by the Roman Catholic Church to which the protestant says, "non serviam. It's my marriage bed I will do as I please." The sin of pride and lust ever present."

“The fact is that the majority of votes of Christians who are not Catholic, supports life and conservatism”.

Protestants gave this country abortion on demand, protestants gave this country birth control pills. Protestants gave this country no fault divorces. And yes protestants put Obama in the White House. This is a protestant country, they far out number Catholics in the United States of America.

So how about taking some damn responsibility for the pathetic moral decline in this country. It’s your faith that started every bit one it. And the decline and bastardization of Christianity started 500 years ago.

If a politician appears that wants to forbid contraception, I doubt that he will be winning the Catholic vote, but if you want to think that, then go ahead.

Santorum didn’t even do well among republican Catholics.

The fact is that the majority of votes of Christians who are not Catholic, supports life and conservatism with their voting.

The majority of Catholic voters support the pro abortion/gay marriage party.

Anyone who cares, should know that we are importing more democrat voting Catholics by the millions, it is what the pro abortion left pins their future on.

Read it slow. Let it sink in and then ask God’s forgiveness for denigrating HIS ONE TRUE CHURCH.

I can read hatred and tribal attacks about how evil everyone is.

My interest is in pro life voting, and how to get Catholics to switch to voting like Evangelicals and getting them to stop supporting importing millions more of pro abortion voting.

Abortion is about voting, and the majority of the members of the Catholic denomination vote for abortion and for increasing that pro abortion vote through immigration, as we often see, even the fake conservative Catholics often support that voting as they see fight to keep the information censored, even on conservative political sites.

Why would anyone get so nasty about trying to hide such relevant information that is so vital to our political goals, from pro life conservatives?

Well, you won’t do it by attacking Catholics all the time.

Knowing how denominations vote is attacking them?

Do you get angry when someone posts how Evangelicals vote, and do you join in on thread lynching them for revealing that information to this political audience?

And how does keeping the Catholic vote and the importation of millions of more Catholic pro abortion voters secret, helpful, and why would any pro lifer be calling for keeping that information secret?

Your interest is sowing hatred among protestants towards Catholics. You should be ashamed of yourself. Do yourself a favor give and it a break. No one wants to read your drivel anymore. Same nonsense, different day.
