This is a typical Marxist ploy, and goes back all the way to the Fall of man. The formula is: find a 'representative' (usually Astroturfed) of a group that is opposed to some immoral act, who disagrees with the group. Treat that outlier as if they should have more moral influence than the whole rest of the group, simply because the 'rebel' disagrees with the group.

The purpose of all this is to get other moral cowards who may nominally be part of the group to "out" themselves, thus amplifying the effect. If that doesn't happen, media and other tools of deception can be used to appear to make the 'rebel' more important than he/she really is.

Classic Marxism. A tactic straight from Hell. And that's where it belongs.

Thank you for articulating this tactic so clearly. I’m sure we have seen this tactic used a million times before, and it’s nice to have it so clearly identified now.
