No, it was Constantine that brought the errors in a big dose.
The errors started right after the crucifixion, and grew exponentially after the last apostle died. That is what Irenaeus and his disciple Hippolytus wrote.

As did others. We know that some had long gone off track already when John wrote Revelation. But you are right it was Constantine who really brought the Catholic Church into being. One could say the marriage of Christian and Pagan was consummated with his Edict of Milan.
