Women theologians are 'the strawberry on the cake', says Pope Francis
The Tablet ^ | 11 December 2014 | Hannah Roberts

Pope Francis has praised the role of women in theology, saying that women have a "feminine genius" that helps them discern "unexplored aspects of the unfathomable mystery of Christ."

He told the Vatican theological commission that advises him and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith that he wanted more women on the committee. Women "are the strawberry on the cake,” but we want more, he said.

Francis has previously said that women should have greater decision-making powers in the Church. The presence of women, the Pope said, "becomes an invitation to reflect on the role that women can and should play in the field of theology."

“By virtue of their feminine genius, [female] theologians can detect, for the benefit of all, some unexplored aspects of the unfathomable mystery of Christ,” the Pope said. "I invite you, therefore, to take the best advantage of this specific contribution of women to the intelligence of faith."

Francis advised the International Theological Commission of 30 theologians, including five women, to respect a diverse range of views and listen to the "signs of the times" in their work. Opposed factions “cannot ignore each other, but in theological dialogue should enrich and correct each other," he said.

Beware church, lest the majority of your high learned teachers and theologians miss His 2nd coming. Just like most of same missed His 1st; teaching traditions of men over the full word of YHVH.

Infamous quotes:

“Let them eat cake and strawberries.”

“They want to have their cake and eat their strawberries, too.”

“Ahh, but the strawberries that’s... that’s where I had them. They laughed at me and made jokes but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt and with... geometric logic... that a duplicate key to the wardroom icebox DID exist, and I’d have produced that key if they hadn’t of pulled the Caine out of action.”

And how was this mistranslated/taken out of context?

AFAIK the latin word for "brussels sprouts" was mistranslated as "strawberries".

"Suggest you take it up with the Roman Catholics on this thread who are demonstrating some degree of consternation."

...you post a topic, and then suggest taking it up with someone else...ok...

To paraphrase Fox News, "We report - you deride."

The source is a well known Catholic bashing site. I surprised we are allowed to post from it at all!
From the the website:

The Tablet is a British Catholic weekly journal that has been published continually since 1840. It reports on religion current affairs, politics, social issues, literature and the arts with a special emphasis on Roman Catholicism while remaining ecumenical. It is committed to the teaching of the Second Vatican Council.
Of course since the report on "Roman Catholicism" there must be an issue of some sort as that term annoys some.

...I’m sure if you read through the posts on this thread you’d be able to point out where I mentioned anything about ‘booing’...and then I’d now too...

The idea that there is a particular "female genius" which grasps truths about the Creator that elude men, strikes me as ideological contamination.

Yeah for "Wifios". Women's insightful female interpretation of scripture.

At least he didn’t say they are the cherry on top of the whipped cream.

I won’t even venture to speculate about crushed nuts.

Because Scripture doesn’t discriminate between sexes on gifts given by the Holy Spirit Men or Women can have some of the gifts.

1 Corinthians 12:4-11 New International Reader’s Version (NIRV)

4 There are different kinds of gifts. But they are all given to believers by the same Spirit. 5 There are different ways to serve. But they all come from the same Lord. 6 There are different ways the Spirit works. But the same God is working in all these ways and in all people.

7 The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all. 8 To some people the Spirit gives a message of wisdom. To others the same Spirit gives a message of knowledge. 9 To others the same Spirit gives faith. To others that one Spirit gives gifts of healing. 10 To others he gives the power to do miracles. To others he gives the ability to prophesy. To others he gives the ability to tell the spirits apart. To others he gives the ability to speak in different kinds of languages they had not known before. And to still others he gives the ability to explain what was said in those languages. 11 All the gifts are produced by one and the same Spirit. He gives gifts to each person, just as he decides.

By saying Women offer some special gift isn’t Scriptural thus it comes from the world.
