Why, pray tell, would anyone, Pope or otherwise, think it necessary to tell an Orthodox Christian, a member of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church (our term, by the way), that he or she must become a “Catholic”?
Because that is Traditional Catholic teaching and popes are supposed to uphold Catholic teaching. According to Catholic teaching, the Orthodox is in schism. I don’t expect you to agree.
