Historically, the Catholic Church has never looked forward to the "second coming." According to its doctrine, the messianic advent and the "messianic kingdom" occurred two thousand years ago ("spiritually" and non-literally). The Catholic Church claims to be the only "messianic kingdom" that will ever exist. The only thing the "second coming" will do is burn the world up.

You completely don't know what you're talking about.

On the contrary. The rejection of a literal messianic Kingdom of G-d on earth is about as dogmatic and uncontroversial a doctrine one can find in all the ancient churches. The Jewish rejection of J*sus is blamed on the Jews expecting a literal Davidic restoration and J*sus wasn't going to give them one (because the "kingdom of G-d" is a metaphor for the Catholic/Orthodox Church).

Rejection of literal messianism is the one issue which unites Catholics/Orthodox across the political spectrum. With all the turmoil in both churches, neither has any messianists because the concept is rejected so thoroughly. The Left rejects it because it makes "working for social justice" seem superfluous while the Right tends to blame the idea of a literal messianic kingdom on earth for Marxism. The only fulfillment promised by the ancient churches is the "beatific vision" in heaven.
