To: Salvation

I fully believe in the Catholic teaching on the family. But the truth is that many women just should not be mothers. If they know this and choose not to have children I have a hard time condemning them. If such women are Catholic I of course believe that means they choose another vocation besides marriage and follow Catholic teaching on sexual morality. If they are not, I can hardly demand they adhere to Church teaching.

Yes the decline of fertility is a concern but if we turn our attention to really supporting families we may see a reverse in that decline.

We need to also review public policy that is hostile to families. This includes but is not limited to taxes, education, health care, welfare, and labor laws. All of these should have at their core mission the building up and support of families. A priority being to promote marriage between one man and one woman, with children being reared by loving parents.
