It is pointless to try to parse or spin anything Francis says in an attempt to maintain the fiction that he is a knowledgeable Catholic or is carrying out the duties of the office of Pope. Sometimes he says things that are consistent with the Catholic Faith. Sometimes he spouts nonsense.

He is totally unqualified to be Pope. Worst of all, he is theologically illiterate.

The healthiest thing any Catholic—indeed, everybody—can do is ignore him. He won’t be around all that long.

Your post 47.....how did he become pope? Do catholics not believe he is chosen by God to be pope.....the vicar of Christ??

this casts even further doubt on the catholic position about Peter being the first pope and the whole apostolic succession.
