I had two experiences similar - an overwhelming sense of peace and well-being that only lasted a few minutes each. One as a child while sitting in church and wondering what made all the people come there week after week - tried to ponder the existence of God and wham... I didn't miss a week for several months hoping for a repeat.

Second one was shortly after I committed my heart to Jesus as a 50 year old adult. I believe the first one was to tell a child who would become a self-proclaimed agnostic, that there really was something out there that loved him. The second to reaffirm a doubters heart that He did indeed exist.
