If the Bible was being put together today by the various churches, what would happen? (vanity)

There isn't much more to this thread than that question. I'll just add that the question came to mind while I was reading the comments on some of the threads about the differences between evangelical and Catholic beliefs, and the recent Catholic synod came to mind, as well as signs of rebellion on homosexuality that are cropping up more than ever.

It would collapse and get nowhere.
Just as it would have collapsed if it had been put together by churches originally.

For starters, the mainline denominations who embraced sodomite "marriage" would see to it that the conservative denominations who refuse to do so would not even be invited to the conference.
They would then declare that anyone or any denomination who didn't embrace the results of their PC creed would be declared heretical and non-Christian.

If it truly the Word of God, and not a book written by men, then it shouldn’t matter should it?

There would be a few that would want any parts of it banning homosexuality or abortion to be removed.
Of course, those aren’t churches, they are social clubs.

It would bear the same kind of rotten fruit for Gods kingdom as the religion forum at freerepublic.com.

Jesus would wind up being a politically correct, bisexual, cool dude telling everyone to do their own thing.

I’d suggest that the politically correct sins would be deleted. Jesus would be a married man with children and the disciples would all be gay.

Yep. I'm pretty sure God can control what's written.

What we forget to realize is that when the Church compiled the books of the Bible, they did so in the wake of the moral collapse that was the Roman Empire. They had seen first hand the horrors imposed by rampant hedonism and turpitude that marked the Romans and other pagan societies.

Yes, just like every book that’s ever been written.

That was my thought as well. God preserved His word, not man. It was God who determined what would be brought forward as His preserved word as He promised. The attempts to give credit to man say much about those who attempt it.

And then incorporated many of those pagan beliefs and practices into their own beliefs and practices. Go figure.
