A Mormon bishop in Los Angeles is under fire for his assertion that Sen. Harry Reid is unworthy to enter the faith’s temples because of his support of Democratic Party positions.

>> “Harry Reid has a temple recommend, so he isn’t really at odds with his religion.” <<

.
Nobody with money or power is “at odds” with mormonism.

I am not a mormon, and never have been one, yet my late and former Father in law who was a very powerful mormon was easily able to get me a temple recommend, based I think on the amount of money he gave to the church, to attend a family wedding.

Money and power are mormonism.

As a certain carpenter was reputed to have said, “Those who will not work shall not eat.”

That was a certain tentmaker, St. Paul. "For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat." 2 Thessalonians 3. KJV

Thanks for the info because my question was how he got a temple recommend in the first place. I’m familiar with the vetting process and personally know Mormons who have been denied for far less egregious behaviour.

That certainly answers THAT question!

Oh BS
Reid has won awards “a perfect example of a mormon”
He has completed all requirements to get his TR

His views are not out of step
Reid received an award from BYU in ‘08 or ‘09 as what a good mormon is, he has met all the requirements to have his TR

I would think his lying about Mitt Romney would have been seen as wrong by the church.

If not that, his weekly attacks on the Koch brothers.

Who cares about his “democratic party positions”. His PERSONAL comportment toward his fellow man should disqualify him, and his church should be disciplining him.

A lot of people misunderstand the Mormon religion, for instance they think that it is pro-life.

Here is Mitt Romney in August of 2012, after winning the nomination, Mitt also has a Temple Recommend and has been both a Bishop and a Stake President, and has excommunicated mormons.

CBSNews.com. The transcript is below.

PELLEY: Well, the platform as written at this convention for the Republicans does not allow for exceptions on abortion with regard to the health of the mother or rape or incest. Is that where you are?

ROMNEY: No. My position has been clear throughout this campaign. I’m in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother.

Last I read only 15% of self proclaimed mormonS have TRs (temple recommendations).
Reid, Romney and Beck are the big names.

So, what Dale Jones is saying is that the Mormon Church doesn't have the balls to take a stand publicly for what they say they believe

I'm afraid you are right.

TR is a temple recommendation
Only about 15% of morons have attained one
And you are correct you don’t get your own planet if you don’t have one

The difference between Mormon and government charity participation requirements is that Mormons do not use force. Government does.

PS I am not a Mormon.

Wonder if Bishop Romney agrees. He’ll have to ban himself from Mormon temples.

It was you who used required.
I am telling you straight out it it forced.
The force comes into play because lds must earn their “salvation”.
There are so many requirements to be “worthy”, that only about 15% of mormonS get there.

For real? If so, I understand now why a lot of Conservative Christians stayed home in 2012 and didn’t vote for the Mormon Romney. Apparently they knew that Mormons had no strong convictions. I always thought Mormons were strong in their faith. Guess not. What a shame!!
