I'm a Catholic and I share Cardinal Burke's concerns.

Never in my life have I seen a Cardinal so critical of a Pope. His words are always nuanced enough for plausible deniability, but you can always tell where they're directed.

Exiling him to Malta was a bad move. It gave Burke 'victim' status and allows him to speak him mind much more openly.

On the plus side, Francis seems to be backpedaling more and more from the Synod. His sermons on the family are much more Orthodox. I hope this means that even if he doesn't believe what he preaches, what he preaches will be Orthodoxy to stop a possible rift in the Church. We'll see next year.
