Donall and Conall Meet the Mormon Missionaries
"You're also telling me that in the subsequent time since the One True Church woke up from its near-two-thousand-year coma, that the guy who wrote five books of the Bible couldn't even be bothered to show up at your Salt Lake City headquarters for an official meet-and-greet?"

The Apostle John Retired to the Island of Yap, NOT the Island of Yak manure. LOL.

(Patmos got too crowded once the 144,000 showed up.

Besides John the Beloved, the Three Nephites have parallels to The Wandering Jew, Catholic saints and even the Prophet Elijah. Although reports of Three Nephites activity are not — for good reason — official Mormon doctrine, their calling is mentioned in Mormonism’s most unique scripture. One who claims a literal belief in the Book of Mormon must agree that the three are still hanging around somewhere. The same goes for the Bible and John the Beloved.

I’d never heard they believe John the Apostle is still alive.

When the 12th Imam appears, is he going to co-opt the lds by claiming to be John, also?

"Okay, I don't think you understand the complexities of this. You see, even though almost everyone thought he was dead, he wasn't really dead. But he couldn't just show up again and tell people that he was still alive!"
"Right, because that would have gone against everything that he was trying to teach them!"
"Yes, Patrick, we know - The Dark Knight Rises was a very compelling piece of cinematic storytelling. But let's get back to St. John the Evangelist."
