** Was there a pope?**

The same time he breathed on the apostles, he gave the Keys of the Kingdom to St. Peter.

Have you ever read that in your Bible?

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Is that in your Bible?

>** Was there a pope?**< the answer is still nope.

The same time he breathed on the apostles, he gave the Keys of the Kingdom to St. Peter. And what do you do with a key? You open a door. And that's what Peter did for the Jews as he preached the Gospel. It's what Paul did when he preached the Gospel to the Gentiles. You've read that....right?

Have you ever read that in your Bible?

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Is that in your Bible?

Yes that's in mine. But this is also in the roman catholic cult:

0 Virgin Mary, most powerful Mother of Mercy, Queen of Heaven and earth, in accordance with your wish made known at Fatima, I consecrate myself today to your Immaculate Heart. To you I entrust all that I have, all that I am. Reign over me, dearest Mother, that I may be yours in prosperity, in adversity, in joy and in sorrow, in health and in sickness, in life and in death.

and here I thought all along we gave our lives to Christ.

As He chose Mary as the instrument through whom He would come to us, so He chose Mary as the instrument through whom we should go to Him.

Silly me again...I thought the Holy Spirit drew us to Christ.

http://www.rosary-center.org/consecrt.htm

"Mary is the intermediary through whom is distributed unto us this immense treasure of mercies gathered by God, for mercy and truth were created by Jesus Christ. Thus as no man goeth to the Father but by the Son, so no man goeth to Christ but by His Mother." (Vatican Website:  Encyclical of Pope Leo 13th on the Rosary, Octobri Mense, Pope Leo XIII, 1903-1914)

Funny, I tried searching for these ideas in the Bible and they weren't there!

You are correct about errors except.....Errors beget errors when one relies upon man-made false teachings.

the teachings of the roman catholic cult on Mary are sheer blasphemy and in no way supported by Scripture.

And that's where you come in.

After Jesus had declared that He would build His church on the truth of Peter’s noble confession, He went on to say, “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” ( Matthew 16:19 ). Later, addressing all the disciples, our Lord repeated the words, “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” ( Matthew 18:18 ).

Jesus gave Peter “the keys of the kingdom of heaven,” not the keys to heaven. A key was a badge of authority ( Luke 11:52 ), and then as now was used to open doors. Peter used the keys Christ gave him to open the door to the Jews on the Day of Pentecost ( Acts 2 ), to the Samaritans after the preaching of Philip ( Acts 8:14-17 ), and to the Gentiles after the Lord had sent him a vision and an appeal from Cornelius ( Acts 10 ).

Jesus gave Peter and the apostles authority over both the doctrine and practices of the first-century church. Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, they would be given wisdom to know what to forbid and what to permit.

This authority, not on exactly the same level as during the apostolic era, still resides in the leaders of the local church. They may not receive the same kind of supernatural guidance as the apostles did,but they possess the entire New Testament along with the direction of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, when church leaders discipline a church member who promotes incorrect doctrine or is involved in evil behavior, they act with divine approval. They are carrying out God’s will, and what they do is ratified in heaven. Since their authority is not ultimately derived from their personal qualities or their office but from Scripture and the instruction of the Holy Spirit, they should exercise it humbly and prayerfully.
