I was thinking about this today...my family has the Vocations cup for this week. It occurred to me that as long as the laity has faith, and keeps doctrine and practice alive in our homes, we have nothing to fear, as it is the laity who are responsible for raising up new religious. It would be just like the Enemy to sow fear and doubt into the hearts of the faithful, through gossip and speculation just like this, in the hope that they will leave the Church, ensuring that the next generation of religious will come from the relativistic families that remain. I plan on remaining loyal to Christ in the Eucharist no matter what, and hold proper Church doctrine in my heart, and pray that I will be able to teach my children to do the same.
It's not the building. The Church is the body. It's not a particular priest, or a Bishop or a Cardinal or even the Pope. For they are all mortals same as us. They were raised by the laity.
It's not whether people who are Catholic sometimes do not follow the rules of the Church but follow their own path. They may bring scandal to themselves and the institution but it has nothing to do with the body.
As long as one priest remains the Church will go on.
