George Lakoff: 'Conservatives don't follow the polls, they want to change them...

"The progressive mindset is screwing up the world. The progressive mindset is guaranteeing no progress on global warming. The progressive mindset is saying, 'Yes, fracking is fine.' The progressive mindset is saying, 'Yes, genetically modified organisms are OK', when, in fact, they're horrible, and the progressive mindset doesn't know how to describe how horrible they are. There's a difference between progressive morality, which is great, and the progressive mindset, which is half OK and half awful."

George Lakoff, professor of cognitive science at the University of California, Berkeley, has been working on moral frames for 50 years. In Communicating Our American Values and Vision, he gives this precis: "Framing is not primarily about politics or political messaging or communication. It is far more fundamental than that: frames are the mental structures that allow human beings to understand reality – and sometimes to create what we take to be reality. But frames do have an enormous bearing on politics … they structure our ideas and concepts, they shape the way we reason … For the most part, our use of frames is unconscious and automatic."

If you ever see George Whackoff on C-SPAN, he is eerily able to restate the conservative position on any issue, with a high degree of asccuracy.

But watch, as he does so, his rage visibly rises & expresses itself in words hissed rather than spoken, compounded by his palpable frustration that the revolution has as yet failed to arrive.

This is an extremely angry man. Whackoff is now 73 years old and that kind of rage cannot be helpful to his health. But cocooned as he is at U-C Berkeley, he can go on living in his own special world, surrounded by those who agree with him and who, like him, cannot fathom how Ronald Reagan was elected & then reelected, by huge majorities.

They state it then they repeat it and it becomes fact in their warped mind.

That wasn’t a rumor. That was told to me by a veterinarian who is pretty conservative actually. She wasn’t making a political statement when she said that. She’s just genuinely concerned about pet’s health.

I’m aware that most liberals are into organic foods but would bet many of them lump genetically modified foods in with organic foods as long as they are improved by “the government”. For some reason,they seem to believe that they can trust the government’s abilities and word on anything. It’s the reason we’re in the mess we’re in.

George Lakoff has stolen are language and now he is trying to steal morality.

Lakoff believes that if you change the definition of words you change the debate. So he advocates selecting emotionally charged language and portraying it in such ways that means the opposite of its service in everyday life. In the progressive world seizing an infant only minutes away from natural birth and sucking out its brains becomes "choice." In the world of George Lakoff it is compassionate to deploy the power of the state at the point of a gun if necessary to deprive one citizen of this property in order to compensate other citizens on the basis of their color because of some miscarriage which might or might not have occurred to their great grandparents.

We seen the inversion of the language at work in this article. George Lakoff wants to redefine immorality as opposition to a patriarchal society. This, of course, is not new to the left, it has identification in Marxism and has found expression in The Frankfurt School. That battle has largely been won by the left, we do not see Father Knows Best on television we see very foolish father figures and wise mother figures. But to return to perversion of the language, the idea that a strong father figure in the family is immoral is utterly absurd yet it is the foundation stone of much of progressive social policy concerning welfare and marriage which as having so many immoral effects on society.

Progressivism needs wordsmiths like George Lakoff to turn the language on its head because they intend to turn morality on its head. Progressivism intends to dismantle the building blocks of society, the family, the church, the nation, the right to property, the free market, etc. and substitute the role of government for all of these bedrock institutions. Whenever this is tried it produces unintended consequences and misery the degree of which depends only on the degree to which society is upended. These baleful consequences must be camouflaged for progressivism to prevail, hence the perversion of the language.

I agree, genetically modified foo should be banned as a pet food additive.

Foo in its natural form can prove hazardous to animals. Since most foo is imported from countries with lax sanitary standards, the risks of continued foo usage outweigh any benefits.

Buy only foo-free for your pets.

Heh, heh, just down the road from us is a podiatrist’s practice named “FOOTCARE”, but the T is a Red Cross so it looks like “FOO+CARE” since the other letters are blue.

When I ride past I think, “Foo Care: come see us if something is wrong with your Foo. What is the Foo, you ask? A specialized ductless organ, the Foo is located between your guggle & your zorch, and secretes an enzyme which normally makes you think Leonardo DiCaprio is an idiot”.
