Excellent. A breath of fresh air to hear someone from the church come forward and proclaim the truth!

Why can’t all priests speak this clearly on the Church’s sexual teaching?

Short answer: because it’s a sin.

It’s easy to get sucked into a relativist argument about homosexuality, but the simplest reason to reject it is that it’s wrong.

We’ve lost our faith in absolutes, and tend to measure everything these days against a “burden of proof” standard. But Right is Right, Wrong is Wrong, and Truth is Truth. It doesn’t have to be argued or even defended. No mortal man can change it by whim or any other device. It is eternal and unbending.

Homosexuality is wrong because it is wrong. Period.

The Good Monsignor hits it out of the park today!

FTR...I am not Roman Catholic, but I read Msgr Pope every day. :)

Could you put me on the ping list, Mark?

And not one mention of Leviticus 20, verse 13 in particular.

PMSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, and yes Fox, will not be interviewing this Catholic priest any time soon. And no invitations to the White House. I’m sure that’ll break his heart.

In addition to this excellent article, three prominent and highly-respected Catholic priests (including Msgr. Pope in an earlier article) have spoken out in the last few weeks in a way that I believe they were advising (from a distance) Cardinal Dolan on the inadvisability of Cardinal Dolan remaining as the Grand Marshal of the 2015 St. Patrick's Day Parade, which will, for the first time, permit homosexual marchers with signs promoting (either explicitly or implicitly) the perverse and mortally sinful active practicing homosexual lifestyle.

Today, Cardinal Dolan posted a weaselly, disingenuous written response to those who criticize his continuing involvment in that disgraceful promotion of sin.

Here are the links for those priests giving Dolan some good advice but thus far unheeded, and a couple links for Dolan's response to his critics.

***************************************************

Msgr. Charles Pope (Washington, DC) quoted again in this earlier FR thread - "Time to End the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Al Smith Dinner?"

"End the St Patrick’s parade. End the Al Smith Dinner and all other such compromised events. Enough now, back to Church! Wear the purple of Lent and if there is going to be a procession, let it be Eucharistic and penitential for the sins of this age."

---------------------------------------------------

Fr. George Rutler (New York City) quoted in this earlier FR thread - "Principalities and Powers: Spiritual Combat 1942-1943 (Fr. George Rutler)"

"The auxiliary bishop of Baghdad, Shlemon Warduni, said on Vatican radio: “We have to ask the world: Why are you silent? Why do not you speak out? Do human rights exist, or not? And if they exist, where are they? There are many, many cases that should arouse the conscience of the whole world: Where is Europe? Where is America?” The genocide of Christians, who have been in Iraq since shortly after the Resurrection, does not seem to have priority in the attention of many in our country."

"As this suffering continues, many in the United States are willing to tolerate heresy and moral decadence in a vain attempt to “get along” with others. While Christians must 'love the sinner and hate the sin,' there are an increasing number of people who are intimidated into enabling the sinner to advertise his sin. In 1992, Cardinal O’Connor said that compromising Catholic truth for the sake of political correctness 'was not worth one comma in the Apostles' Creed.'"

Audio of Fr. Mitch Pacwa (EWTN) on his 9/10/2014 EWTN Radio show (listen about 1/3 through the audio)

(Fr. Mitch Pacwa gently makes a few comments on the problems with the upcoming 2015 St. Patrick's Day Parade, and, in particular, Cardinal Dolan's participation in it.)

Video of Fr. Mitch Pacwa (EWTN) on his EWTN Television show "EWTN Live" - select the 9/11/2014 episode, with guest "Raymond Arroyo", and listen to Fr. Mitch's comments about Cardinal Dolan's scheduled involvement in the upcoming 2015 St. Patrick's Day Parade (in several comments he made about it on that show.)
