Bishop Sarhad Yawsip Jammo, the head of a Chaldean Catholic eparchy based in San Diego, will travel to the White House with a list of 25,000 Iraqi Catholics who seek entry into the United States.
“Requests have been made to White House for an increase in the number of visas issued, to be granted to those who wish and desire to leave Iraq,” reported a California-based Chaldean news site. “In response to a request from the White House, St. Peter's Diocese has been compiling a list of names for our brothers and sisters in Iraq that want to escape persecution.”

Why? Just tell them to waltz right in and they will be set up in a hotel with a pool and a big screen TV with cable, food stamps and free education for their kids.

Why would Christians want to go to Muslim countries?
If they emigrate, which is traumatic enough, they should get visas to Christian countries: Europe, North, Central and South America, Australia. There are some 3.3. billion Christians in the world so why not join them in those Christian countries?

When my brother was deployed in Iraq, he worked with some Iraqi Christians who cooperated with the US. They definitely have a target on their back now, and he has sponsored the ones he could to come to the US. But individual efforts like that miss some people.
We welcomed the Hmong from Vietnam, in gratitude for their help there. I think welcoming the Iraqi Christians is like that.
They want to do it right. They are very serious about their religious freedom.
Why not Canada or Mexico? They are both Christian nations. Last I heard, so are most countries in Europe. Why is it always America?
