When they dug up St. Anthony's grave/corpse and moved it 30 years after his burial... when it was opened...it is claimed most of his body was found to have returned to dust......(many cathoics believe saint's bodies are incorruptable)... However 'his Tongue' remained fresh,... which was seen as 'a sign' of his of preaching, therefore they removed it and packaged it as a relic that people kiss and bow to.....

Here's the guy...well... what's left of him...looks like they hadn't decided how to dress him yet...

Here's what is suppose to be 'his "Tongue"....

And here they are parading 'his Tongue' out on this litter...The “feast of the tongue” celebrated in Colombo on Sri Lanka..... the tongue of “St. Anthony” had been transported from Italy to the Island nation in the Indian Ocean.

Cool.

I really don’t see any difference in that kind of veneration (honor) and kissing a coffin at a funeral. Some people even kiss the gravestones of their loved ones at graveyards when they visit them.

Just because the remains are visibly exposed is kind of immaterial. IMO. Your mileage may vary.

I guess I or my Church might be be called names now but so be it. I’m not too concerned anymore what some people on the Internet think of my faith. No offense.

Thanks for the pics though.
