Bill Donohue comments on a press conference held today on the steps of the New York Public Library:
We had two staff members at the press conference, and what they reported is quite interesting. Three gay groups announced that they have applied to march in New York’s 2015 St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Irish Queers, Lavender and Green Alliance, and St. Pat’s for All. They are furious with parade officials for not including them, and they are particularly angry at NBC (the network that televises the parade) for securing the right of an NBC gay group, OUT@NBC, to march, but not them. Here is how these three gay groups characterized the NBC gambit: “Gay corporate staff can march (under a banner that doesn’t say the word ‘gay’), NBC saves face, and the parade keeps NBC’s sponsorship—without doing a thing to end the exclusion of LGBT groups.” Emmaia Gelman of Irish Queers said there will “absolutely” be a protest at the 2015 march if these groups are denied the right to march. More important, Ann Northrop spoke at the press conference. She is most known for helping to organize the 1989 Nazi-like storming of a Sunday Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral; this is when Act-Up disrupted the Mass by chaining themselves to the pews and spitting the Eucharist on the floor. Now Northrop is back looking to crash the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. John Lahey, the vice chairman of the parade committee, stunned us last week when he said that other gay groups may march in the 2015 parade. Now he has told the Irish Times that they are under pressure to “shorten” the parade. Who issued this edict? And does this mean that a contingent from the pro-life community will not be marching? We gave our support contingent on a formal rule change that would also allow pro-life Catholics to march under their own banner. Stay tuned.

A parade that was once an explicitly Catholic event at a time when the Catholic Church was still prosecuted in the culture. These days it is basically an excuse to drink beer to the point of vomiting while wearing green clothes. The Catholic Church is barely a presence at the parade, and most Catholics vote Democrat anyway. For what the event is today, it is pretty silly to keep out homosexuals when every other sin under the sun is on full display. As is usually the case, conservatives fight battles decades too late...
So NYC will have three gay parades "Pride", Halloween, and St Patrick's.
Four, if you count the Coney Island Mermaid thing.

There’s a GLBT St. Patrick’s parade in Queens, which the locals call “Erin Go Bra-less.”

We no longer have a population that is solely Irish and they are no longer discriminated against. There is no need for this tribalism.
The hedonists have long used this day to act like idiots. Gays in the parade really does nothing to change it.
For what must now be the 100 millionth time, the Catholic Church has never condemned being Gay any more then they condemn being mentally ill. If you are celibate there is no issue. If you try to get married and publicize it, you are going to lose any church related job. Period, it's in the contract. Do you know SINGLE straight people who work for the Church are also under a morals clause in their contracts? I single straight person can not live outside of marriage with person. If the Church finds out, you are gone from your position.
I am no cardinal Dolan apologist by any means but just what the hell does everyone expect him to do? He can boycott the parade, it will still go on!
Sometimes you just have to let the people see this crap. Let the people decide! If they want their children exposed to this crap then we as a society are doomed and guess what? Cardinal Dolan will not be able to do anything about that either!

So do you think that Jesus would serve as grand marshall of a parade such as this?
Here's a little clue:

It's simple, really. What Christians expect from Dolan (as well as from his fellow clergy) is that they serve Our Lord Jesus Christ rather than the democrat party.
He was named Grand Marshall before the gay group was allowed in. The parade is not until March, perhaps he will reconsider. In the mean time. Half this country agrees with him. What do you propose we do about that? It’s really easy to throw the words and the Bible verses around but that really does not solve the problem does it?
Doesn't matter if the whole country agrees with him (unless one's religious beliefs are informed by popular opinion rather than immutable Truth).
His participation will telegraph tacit approval and as such will constitute a betrayal of the Faith he claims to represent.
