Cardinal Dolan and the NYC St. Patrick's Gay Parade?
National Catholic Register ^ | 3 September 2014 | Pat Archbold

Posted on 09/03/2014 9:12:46 AM PDT by VermiciousKnid

If reports are to be believed, a compromise is in the works that will amount to nothing less than an endorsement of the gay identity in the 2015 NYC St. Patrick's Day parade.

The Irish Times reports that under pressure from NBC, not only will a group be allowed to march in the parade with a gay identity banner (something previously banned) but that none other than Timothy Cardinal Dolan will be Grand Marshal.

Follow the money. A senior VP of RC INC is making a presentation to increase revenue. RC INC is the oldest, most profitable multinational corporation on the planet.

You might be surprised what vandalising the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has wrought.

Almighty God was quite precise in instructing from the ground up the furnishings, priestly movement and rubrics, and the people’s place, in observing the sacificial worship.

And don’t give me the modernist turn of phrases about the casual early “house celebrations” of the Holy Sacrfice of the Mass.

Those celebrations would put the NO of the West quite to shame. Check out Chaput on that subject and the revelations of excavations of what meeting in “houses” truly meant.

In any case, Dolan is advertising his affection for a culture in decline, where less means more and decadence trumps piety.

Why do gays need special parades any more? Is it really about Pride? Or is it about bacchanalia?

This will be used to push the gay agenda on the American Roman Catholic Church.

You will see more and more of this in the years to come. Many Catholics will start attacking non gay agenda churches as hateful, as we see with illegal immigration.

Rita, you have piqued my interest. Do you have any sources on hand that you can share? I mean beyond googling Chaput, I guess I can so that myself. Thx. :)

If you believe in the Holy Catholic Church as the Nicene/Apostles Creed prescribes, and that you recite in ALL FORMS of the mass every time it is said, then you can’t licitly claim ‘vandalism’ of the mass. The Church hierarchy changed it!
You MAY be able to claim that some priests took too liberal an interpretation/implementation of the promulgation of the Mass of Paul VI, BUT such an accusation IS NOT universal.
I PERSONALLY was catechized in the 1960’s and 70’s. A disservice was done to us to be certain, but it is nothing that can’t be overcome INDIVIDUALLY if one has the motivation to do it. So far it has worked for me and mine. I credit local Catholic Radio, EWTN and Lighthouse Catholic Media for our continued and ongoing conversion. Thanks and Peace to you...

Find, newliturgicalmovement.org.

Scroll to the first article, which is found listed under, Saturday, August 24th. Inside the first paragraph is your link.

I made an embarrassing goof. It is Msgr. Charles Pope, (not Chaput), who lends insight into the formality of early “house churches”.

Sigh.

What a big fat disappointment he’s turned out to be.

The USCCB in general needs some housecleaning with rare exception. It’s a scandal really.

Yeah, Chaput has been a key part of trying to foster some kind of ascendancy of Latin American values upon the USA, and then had the audacity to say that it was 'an adoption of American culture' when he discovered that latin-american immigrants voted pro-abortion more than existing US citizens!

Chaput is scum.

Wasn’t Cardinal Dolan on the short list to be Pope when Benedict resigned?

Already done, Steve. I no longer live in NYC, and out here on Long Island we have a few regular TLMs. My parish is home to one of them. I am extremely lucky.

I will be interested to see how many Catholic schools now refuse to send their marching bands to the parade. Sadly, it is my prediction that many will send them anyway.

The form of the mass has nothing to do with this.

Certainly it does. The forced extinction, practically, of the TLM for decades is one of the things that lead to withdrawn graces for the Catholic Church and the impropriety that followed, especially by American bishops and other ecclesiastics.

Of course you mean well, but in the face of the word, “licit”, now plainly being quite broadly compromised by so many words and actions, I do take some degree of conscientious objection to my complaint that 40 years in the desert for the TLM has proven to be a grave loss to the Church.

Impiety is not “licit”. Abuses to the little precision of V2 are not “licit”. And, the multitude of ambiguities that comprise V2 having been turned into license in many cases, is not “licit”.

As you surely know, it was the Traditional Latin Mass which served, for centuries, the far better days of the Holy Catholic Church in matters of piety, devotion, religious vocations and practices of reverence.

My point is that the Traditional Latin Mass was never meant to become as a book burning, banished, or dissolved into nothing but to distant memory, nor so removed as to be entirely inaccessible.

I believe a price has been paid for V2 in vocations. And, rendering of the TLM to “extraordinary” has neither enriched nor enlightened the Church. I believe I see the fruit of V2, needlessly resulting in diminishment and truncation of the Holy Mass.

It may be licit, by hierarchical privilege, but the fruit, 40+ years later, is known to be sparse in the West.

We use to be clearly counter cultural, a peculiar people. Now, not so much. Befall piety and net a sitting cardinal as grand marshall in a gay parade. Very tragic.

I didn’t mean to bring derision on Chaput by my stone head blunder.

I do wish he and the Left leaning leaders of the USCCB would teach and preach some modicum of respect for US borders as the same as they were the doors and windows of their own rectory, and appreciate border laws and order, and the reasonable safety and security measures that keep a nation at peace from open INVASION.
