Ahhh Yes, You are correct. It most definitely IS the proverbial straw man. For some reason I did not re-read all the way from the beginning. I focused pretty much only on the bottom half of the article.

I have read this precise claim from Protestants right here on FR. I.e., that Catholics worship Mary as a goddess.

I think that's a bizarre assertion. I have seen countless posts (and whole threads) right here on FR, where Protestants have spilled buckets of ink (so to speak) asserting that Catholics worship statues, paintings, and dead humans--Mary above all.
