The SSPX schism of dead excommunicated Marcel LeFebvre is an evil far more textured than the mere eccentricities of Bishop Athanasius Schneider. Bishop Schneider appears to be in good standing and therefore to be faithfully conforming to his priestly vow of obedience unlike Marcel. Bishop Schneider refrains from choosing, much less choosing and consecrating, bishops of his own proclivities in direct disobedience to the pope based on phony nonsense about some imagined “emergency” justifying such gross disobedience. The LeFebvrite schism also has harbored Bishop Williamson and currently harbors the vile and foul-mouthed slanderer de Mallerais. In better times, the schismatics would have all, after due inquiry and a brief opportunity for repentance, been burned at the stake.

Yeah, I get your stance on the SSPX etc, but why are you bringing it into this discussion?

Apparently the management of St. Peter's Basilica disagrees.

"SSPX Priest Celebrates Mass in Saint Peter's Basilica"

By the gracious permission of the higher direction of the Papal Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican, the faithful of the church of Saint-Martin-des-Gaules, Noisy-le-Grand (near Paris) -- who were in Rome for a summer vacation pilgrimage led by Father Michel de Sivry, of the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX) -- were able to attend a Mass at the Altar of Saint Pius X, where the saintly Pope's body reposes.

The Mass in the Vatican Basilica was celebrated by Fr. de Sivry on August 9, 2014, during this special centennial year of the dies natalis of Saint Pius X.

Just like in the NT church. Somewhat refreshing to see the traditional wolf vs the modern sheep's ecumenical clothing. But both holding to the foundationally contrary RC basis for Truth than what the church began under, sadly resulting in damnation and more errors.

Yo, Gamecock. Another one for your homepage.

BE: In better times, the schismatics would have all, after due inquiry and a brief opportunity for repentance, been burned at the stake.

True Catholicism showing its colors again.....

I'll wear the label of *failed Catholic* like a badge of honor in that case.

I just didn't have that kind of bloodlust in me.
