Cavell's letter threatened that the diner was flouting the federal Civil Rights Act, asserting, "Mary’s Gourmet Diner may not lawfully offer a discount only to customers who pray… Any promotions must be available to all customers regardless of religious preference or practice on a non-discriminatory basis.”

So when my parents go to the movies and get a senior citizens discount then isn't that discriminatory too? They going to threaten to sue over that as well?

Did the owners offer the discount only to Christians?

The senior discount was my first thought as well. There is nothing intrinsically discriminatory about requiring a prerequisite in order to qualify for a discount. I bet the restauranteur would have accepted one of the FFRF’s making a prayer to Gaia...or to nothing ;’)
