Yeah, there’s a bit of a disconnect about what “literal” means.
A lot of that depends on the style of the writing. Genesis was written as a historic narrative. Psalms were written as songs containing fundamental truths.
That's the problem. Nobody is defining what *taking the Bible "literally"* means.
Does it mean that there is no allegory, metaphor, parables, poetry, songs, etc and they all must be read as being *literally* true?
Or does it mean that the Bible is inerrant and Truth not not everything has to be read as being literal.
IMO, it's a phrase that's not even worth the time arguing over.
