VATICAN CITY - Pope Francis has lifted the suspension of Maryknoll Father Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann, who was ordered 29 years ago to stop exercising his priestly ministry because he refused to give up his political position in Nicaragua’s Sandinista government.

The pope made his decision after Father D’Escoto, 81, formally requested permission to resume priestly duties, Passionist Father Ciro Benedettini, assistant director of the Vatican press office, said Aug. 4. Vatican Radio reported that Father D’Escoto had written that he wanted to be able to celebrate Mass again “before dying.”

The letter announcing the lifting of the suspension was signed by Cardinal Fernando Filoni, prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.

According to a press release from the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, the letter announcing the decision said: “The Holy Father has given his benevolent assent that Father Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann be absolved from the canonical censure inflicted upon him, and entrusts him to the superior general of the institute (Maryknoll) for the purpose of accompanying him in the process of reintegration into the ministerial priesthood.”

CDF head: Pope Francis has close ties with liberation theology

The Tablet ^ | 5/2/14 | Christa Pongratz-Lippitt

According to Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller, prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Pope Francis has close ties with liberation theology, the same discaterio that once condemned the movement. In the 1980s the CDF under then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger attacked liberation theology as borrowing “from various currents of Marxist thought“.

Few know that Müller is also a pupil of Gustavo Gutierrez, the “father” of Latin-American liberation theology. It certainly, when Müller, the prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith affirms that “Pope Francis has close ties with liberation theology” it makes clear the reason for the exaltation of Leonardo Boff and the most radical leaders of the Marxist Liberation theology with the election of Pope Francisco .

Pope Francis’ opening to liberation theology is in stark contrast with the persecution to a very orthodox order for its adherence to Tridentine mass and the traditional tenets and liturgy that were the standard of the Catholic Church for hundreds of years.

Father Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann was a communist. He was born in the U.S. He was foreign Minister in the Sandanista government. He was awarded the Lenin Peace Prize by the former Sovier Union in 1985.

Pope John Paul in one of his most wise and courageous moves suspended him from the priesthood for violating his priestly vows.

CATHOLIC PRIESTS DO NOT BECOME COMMUNISTS.

COMMUNISTS INFILTRATE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH AND BECOME PRIESTS.

This man was never a true or sincere priest. He was one of the many agents that the Communist Party infiltrated into the Catholic priesthood.

This was a terrible decision and a slap in the face to all true and faithful Catholics.

Welchie, the hit-and-run self-promoter strikes again. Doesn’t your leftist publication get enough hits from the progressives?
