Help your neighbor, pay someone’s electric bill, buy groceries for someone going through hard times. That way you give your charity to someone who you actually know needs it.
All those other 2nd collections are mostly liberal crap run by people who don’t really believe what the Church teaches for the most part. It is the Socialistic kind of social justice.
He too seems to see through the smoke and mirrors that the USCCB is throwing up in the wake of this order. They know that the federal funding spigot is about to be closed. He quotes a statement by Michael Sean Winters of the Not-At-All Catholic Reporter: "Call me foolish, but I find it astonishing that a statement signed by an archbishop and a bishop on behalf of other bishops fails to mention God, makes no reference to the Bible, and is so utterly devoid of pastoral sensibility. This is the work of a lawyer, not a bishop."

I don’t like the CCHD, but this quote is beyond the pale:

The bishop was addressing the legal discrimination against the Catholic church by an administration hostile to God, Christianity, Catholicism, and the Bible, but subject to the law. Michael Winters is a hypocritical, muck-raking anti-Catholic hater of biblical morality posing as a Catholic to destroy the church.
