Protestants gave this country abortion on demand. Protestants churches supported abortion, including evangelical Jerry Falwell, all through the 70s, until he jumped on the pro-life issue for political reasons when he founded the Moral Majority in 1979.

It is protestant churches that are allowing homosexual clergy, homosexual “marriage”, women clergy and abortion for any reason.

Now tell me again how “conservative” protestant faiths are again. And please don’t cite a bunch of statistics showing what percentages believe in this and that. So there are catholics that don’t abide by teachings of their faith. I’m shocked. The Catholic Church is the most socially conservative faith in the world. No homo “marriages”, no openly homosexual clergy, no abortion of any kind, and no women clergy. And it will never change because the word of God never changes. It’s just too bad that protestants think the Word of God changes with the times.

The Moral Majority actually had several founders {co-founders}. Jerry Falwell obviously plus Paul Weyrich suggested the name, Howard Phillips, and Ed McAteer, a retired executive were the main ones to set it in motion. The men came from several churches including Catholic. But usually when a person looks up The Moral Majority only Falwell is mentioned as founder.

I grew up Southern Baptist. They did not support abortion, homosexual marriage, IIRC there were no women as pastors, it was conservative. I later joined a Missionary Baptist Church and I know for certain they didn't.

There was one thing and it was true even in a Catholic ran hospital that IF a mother was in true physical danger and carrying to term meant her death they would wait as long as possible then take the baby by cesarean the easiest, quickest, and safest way under such conditions.

The mainstream Christian conservatives mostly left the churches which chose to make the wrong decisions. Many in fact still do not support the above mentioned acts. But the media only reports on the sects that do allow those wrongs.

No Baptist minister I know of in conservative sects will give a homosexual any office in the church even as piano player. I can count about 6 Baptist churches within a three mile radius of me and I live in a rural area. I know that my Church of GOD pastor who is my next door neighbor doesn't support the things you mentioned.

You even have to watch the church name itself because some get labeled liberal that are not. Church of Christ is very conservative. United Church of Christ is very liberal about as liberal as it gets. Look up Citizens United for separation of Church and state and see who the director is. He's a UCC minister.

Furthermore if you don't think there are homosexual Priest in the RCC you are mistaken. Not sure of the numbers likely low percentage equal to any other conservative church but they aren't open about it. I did know of one former RCC Priest in my home town who died of AIDS. Yes he was a homosexual. He ended up IIRC being in the Greek Orthodox church as a priest then retired due to the disease before his death. Why was he gay? Well seems a certain Priest in town who was around about the time of that guys teenage years {the 1960's} was later convicted of charges in a neighboring state. Who really knows though.

Latest figures are over 33,000. Google it!

Weren't you just bugging another poster for not putting in "live links" instead of references??? You state it, YOU show us the Google!

Seriously, Sal, how many times are you going to try this strawman? Haven't you been paying attention all the times this bogus statistic has been refuted? Do facts not matter if you can score a point? In case anyone out there is curious about this so-called statistic of there being "33,000 Protestant denominations, please read http://www.aomin.org/aoblog/index.php/2007/08/22/the-33000-denominations-myth/.

Talisker: They were all murdered for their beliefs. Men, women and children. Over a half-million people chopped, stabbed and burned to death for disagreeing with the Church. An entire culture completely wiped off the face of the Earth - slaughtered.

That's the way things were done back then. I don't excuse the methods but heresy is from the demonic so you better believe I celebrate its demise. These were not Christians as you attempted to allude.

You also might want to check that "over a half-million people" from a reliable secular source.

If I leave a message with my lawyer’s receptionist asking them to call me, and they call me, then they’re useless?

If I call and leave a message asking that a court date be rescheduled, and they get the court date rescheduled, they’re useless?

Really?

Where, if you were to think about it, would you go to find that information?

Well; MOST people would probably look in the bible; since it IS the most sold book in this country every year.

But I heard other people say there is NOT enough info in it to do the things that GOD requires of us.

I am SO confused...

that would be someone asking Mary to intervene with her Son to assist them with a particular problem...as Catholics do now...

That would be a mere guess on your chosen religions interpretation.

Who, at the party, would have KNOWN that Mary had such an influence over her son at this point?

It's His FIRST miracle.

I think this gives a fuller idea of the Catholic position on Sacred Scripture and what is lacking in protestantism:

Yes; it gave me a FULLER idea all right; but I still didn't see ANYTHING lacking.

if you don't give me a hint as to which of my brilliant posts that you refer to...I don't know which one you apparently agree with...

Well; I looked at the reference given in THIS one, to know you are replying to #316.

I’m just not sure about your interpretation. I have asked someone for guidance.

So, IOW, you asked someone else for THEIR interpretation because you apparently do not know how to interpret it yourself.

So what gives you the assurance that THEIR interpretation is correct?

And by accepting theirs, doesn't that then become YOUR interpretation, since you accept it by adopting it instead of arriving at it yourself?

Well if any of you had the courage to tell us the name of the church you go to... ooops sorry forgot who I was talking to.

I do not tell others that they need to come to my church because salvation is found in it.

I am not out to make converts to the church I attend.

I want people to know Jesus, not religion or churchianity.

Please...we are dealing here with the Mother of God.

To whom your chosen religion has ascribed DIVINE POWERS.

"She's DEAD; Jim!"

that would be someone asking Mary to intervene with her Son to assist them with a particular problem...as Catholics do now...

And you know this how? That passage does not say that. That is only an assumption.

All it says is that Mary told Him the wine ran out. She didn't ask him to do anything about it?

Remember, this was the FIRST miracle Jesus did to reveal Himself so how would anyone know that He could or would perform a miracle?
