Doubtless you have gathered from my posts on other threads that the Second Vatican Council does not trouble me in the same way it troubles you. That said, I must admit that I have had trouble fully understanding the Nostra Aetate (http://www.vatican.va/archive/hist_councils/ii_vatican_council/documents/vat-ii_decl_19651028_nostra-aetate_en.html) statements (which cite St. Gregory VII, Letter III, 21 to Anazir [Al-Nasir], King of Mauretania PL, 148.451A) concerning Muslims in light of the passage that you cite.
