Yes, this ‘ISIS’ entity went from unknown to chief boogeyman seemingly overnight.
Good luck to the Muslims on getting all of them to pledge allegiance to
Khalifah
Let us know how that works out for ya all
I would recommend the Wikipedia entry and associated linked topic before the very unobjective Guardian article.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caliphate
After 9/11 I began t look at al Qaeda and associated Muslim groups and saw how they want to bring back a caliphate.
The 9/11 date was possibly chosen because it was an anniversary of a post-WWI declaration concerning the middle East by Britain.
Similarly ISIS are talking about Picot-Sykes.
There is a widely held idea that the nation states that exist now were foisted artificially on them by the west/Christians.
The liberal and left media have downplayed the idea of the Caliphate as a goal since 9/11. This Guardian article falls in to that same category.
“Caliphate— the office, jurisdiction, or reign of a caliph.”

Let ‘em kill each other. That’ll keep their primative religion busy for a while.
I really don’t give a smelly Obama about that area of the world. Should they attack us again as in 9/11, we should then respond in a manner that they will most surely not enjoy.
Are the people doubting the caliphate will succeed discussing why ISIS, so far, has succeeded fabulously? => No.
Why has ISIS succeeded so far?
They have only gone after areas with a Sunni majority. Northern Iraq has a Sunni majority and so ISIS is greeted with parades the night they take over.
Mosul, Irak: ISIS Parade

And...ISIS has very efficient death squads and long death lists as you can see from their videos.
If ISIS should attack an area with a Shiite majority they need hundreds of men to hold what they may hold now with 4 or 5 head cutters. Why risk amazing success pursuing Shiite majority areas, Baghdad and southeast Iraq -that would be foolish.
What’s the next Sunni rich target?
By far it’s Jordan with a 95% Sunni Muslim population. => More parades!
