“We have a community that is large, that is growing, that is diverse and that is challenged by poverty, by elements of disengagement, and also strengthened by diversity, by growing areas of Jewish involvement, said Steven M. Cohen, a leading sociologist of the Jewish community and one of the reports three authors.”
I read that twice trying to figure out what it says. Classic sociologists drivel.

It does souond like that dosen’t it. Oh well, this is one time when diversity works our way.
Yep, but after all, that is what he is - a sociologist.
I think he is just saying that a diverse community presents problems, whereas a community of diversity is a good thing. And that diverse diversity is best case. Because a diverse community is divided, and a community of diversity isn’t. He is making a statement that has the words “diverse” and “diversity” in one sentence. So he obviously knows what he is talking about.
>>, by elements of disengagement,<<
This stumped me.
