My bible is missing the part where he tells Peter, "Peter You are the rock."

Simply reading what Our Savior spoke reveals he simply told Peter that he was Peter. Peter the denier. Peter the faithless.

Go ahead and kneel to statues of Peter, and pray to him. I'm sure G_d didn't mean it when he wrote the first commandment in stone and gave it to Moses.

All that scriptural evidence of who the Rock really is yet Catholics rely on one misappropriated verse.

Actually, this is easily refuted in Scripture.

One Verse, hardly, nine including Matthew: Joh_1:42 And he brought him to Jesus. And Jesus looking upon him, said: Thou art Simon the son of Jona. Thou shalt be called Cephas, which is interpreted Peter.

That looks oddly like Jesus calling Peter the word for Rock.

1Co_1:12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith: I indeed am of Paul; and I am of Apollo; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

1Co_3:22 For all things are yours, whether it be Paul or Apollo or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come. For all are yours.

1Co_9:5 Have we not power to carry about a woman, a sister as well as the rest of the apostles and the brethren of the Lord and Cephas?

1Co_15:5 And that he was seen by Cephas, and after that by the eleven.

Gal_2:9 And when they had known the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, who seemed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship: that we should go unto the Gentiles, and they unto the circumcision:

Paul was a pretty smart guy, Who according to his own words received his instruction form Jesus and not man. If he recognized Peter as the Rock, why shouldn't we? Obviously no man told him this, it was from Jesus.
