We remember the names and stories of all of those who were murdered to their faith, not only by the Roman Emperors, but many of those who have been martyred since.
You don’t even know who they are and yet you claim the ability to judge them? Find a mirror to view some “Sublime arrogance!”
>> “We are comfortable with God being the judge” <<
.
Were that true, there would be no foolish appointing of ‘saints’ by the blind guides at the vatican.
Do the Saints have more influence in prayer reaching Gods ear than man? Kind of like a “prayer amplifier”?
Apologies, ES. That was meant for formerlib.
Are you not a saint?
Yehova didn’t give man the authority to declare who is a saint.
Now you’re just in denial. Can’t even face the reality of uncountable encounters with saints.
What a hoot.
I've had face to face uncountable encounters with saints. There are FReepers here I've met in person.
I meet saints every Sunday when I go to church.
I see my husband and daughter every day.
I meet them in the Bible study I attend.
The world is filled with saints.
Free with each box. One graven image to bow down in front of and pray to.
Make your own shrine in your own home.
Its interesting how people show their knowledge of scripture or lack of it with the comments they make isnt it?
“What a hoot.”
It seems that you have decided, as an act of will, to close your mind on this issue.
I don’t know how to help you. I’ll pray on it.
Decided to close my mind on what issue?
That people encounter saints?
Since every believer is already a saint, I run into them on a daily basis. I am one myself.
“Since every believer is already a saint”
Satan believes, and is still the devil.
And so what? Did Jesus die to redeem the fallen angels?
Do you understand the difference between saving faith and head knowledge?
Do you understand just WHO Jesus died to redeem?
I cant do this with you now.
The point of my note is to demonstrate that not every believer is a saint.
Yes, every believer is a saint. In Scripture, the word believer is used to describe someone who has put their faith in Christ for salvation and is saved.
Here’s a keyword search for the word *believer* as used in the NT.
http://www.biblegateway.com/keyword/?search=believer&version=ESV&searchtype=all&bookset=2
The word *believer* is never used to describe someone who simply acknowledges God with intellectual assent or to describe demons although they know God exists.
“At the Vatican”? Don’t you know that every church that traces its roots to Apostles recognizes His Saints? It’s not just “the Vatican!”
Don’t you know that “his saints” are the entirety of his elect?
That men cannot discern, nor ‘appoint’ saints?
That many that the catholic church call ‘saints’ have committed atrocities on a par with Hitler and Stalin?
.
Then why would you have any issue with asking them for their prayers? Are they not alive in Christ?
That many that the catholic church call saints have committed atrocities on a par with Hitler and Stalin?
Hitler killed 13+ million, Stalin over 20 million.
Please list the Saints that you are accusing and list the millions attributed to them.
Or was that statement just slanderous hyperbole?
>> “Then why would you have any issue with asking them for their prayers?” <<
.
Because they are not saints!
If they prayed to the dead, or celebrated a mass, or bowed to an idol and made the Mithra cross, they are lost, not saints.
Isn't that for God to judge? Who do you think you are, anyway?
