And now the Vatican Radio link says this:

“In the Gospel, Jesus does become angry, but pretends to when the disciples do not understand him.

They took out the "not". But of course this quote now makes no sense. What is with all of the editing at the Vatican websites? Removing interviews, changing formats, editing quotes. They don't know what to do with this guy.

As for the comment about the Pope should not do these things, I think by him doing these things we are seeing how he really thinks.

Translating Spanish to Latin (or Italian) to English, you can get some awkward constructions, but it does make perfect sense:

“Jesus does become angry (at times), but (in this case, he merely) pretends to when the disciples do not understand him.”

Yes.

I've corresponded with Fr. Blake, whose blog post is the subject of this thread and he assures me that he simply cut and pasted what was on the Vatican Radio web site and that the word "not" was most definitely there.

It has been edited out.

...A broom is drearily sweeping
Up the broken pieces of yesterdays life
Somewhere a queen is weeping
Somewhere a king has no wife
And the wind, it cries Mary...

Who's to say it hasn't been done before?
