A 200-year-old Russian Orthodox bell has been returned to Alaska after being held by Catholics for more than a century in Southern California.
The bell, known as the San Fernando bell, was returned to Holy Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral on Oct. 1 and is waiting to be placed in a permanent outside display.

Where metal thieves will steal it and cut it up for scrap and use the money to buy dope.
Prolly, kind of big to easily haul away. It is in the eastern orthodox tradition to have bells at ground level. Onion domes are not conducive to bells.
Never underestimate a thief. One got fried here a couple of years ago trying to steal live power lines.
Not sure I understand then... why was it returned?
