Interestingly, most new Catholics who used to be something else rarely say things like: "I am also very proud and happy to be an ex-Baptist."

It wasn't hatred of where they were from but love of where they were going that defined their view of themselves.

this woman doesn't seem to know what the Church's primary mission is either -- she says who are at the forefront of what used to be one of the church's primary missions to aid and comfort the poor and needy -- err... we're supposed to talk about Christ, Sandy

This is true. I have never said, “Oh, I’m so proud to be an ex-Presbyterian! Being saved out of that false religious system was the best thing that ever happened to me!”

Instead, I’m deeply grateful for what I learned as a Protestant: an appreciation for Scripture, both as God’s word and as magnificent literature; lots of fine four-part hymns; an obligation of service to the church community and the larger community; a spirit of patriotism; a profound trust in Providence (the concept, not the city). To this day, my ideal church (building) is Presbyerian: full of light, unadorned natural wood, with a Viking-ship roof.

I hope that my children, brought up as Catholics, could make the same list “and then some,” although I don’t know their ideal building. The Alamo, perhaps ...

Unfortunately, many American Catholics don't understand that. If a Fundamentalist Protestant becomes Catholic he's expected to toe a number of "lines" (evolution, higher criticism) in order to prove his "loyalty."

Sometimes the price is not worthy paying.

Mary Clark, a non-Catholic Christian messenger has heard for
a long time about a coming “moment” and of a coming “hour”, it is the Great Warning (Rev 6:15-17). God is going to reveal the Truth to all and it will be our free will “yes” or “no” to what God reveals.

_ _ _

Your Defining Moment

August 1, 2012

defining moment - a point at which the essential nature or character of a person, group, etc., is revealed or identified.

Your defining moment, beloved, was when you said, “yes” to Me. Yes! That simple “yes” changed everything about you and your future.

You see, much was involved in that decision that you made to say, “yes” to Me. You turned the idea over and over in your mind. You read My words of truth. You pondered them. You looked at the lives of other’s who had said “yes” to Me. Sometimes you liked what you saw and other times you did not. But you decided to surrender to Me, to say, “yes” to Me, and you endeavored to follow My lead.

Now ANOTHER defining moment is about to present itself to you. You are about to step into a whole new dimension of service to Me. When it is presented, will you say, “Yes, Lord?” Will you give Me an emphatic “yes”? I hope you will. I hope you will see this defining moment as what it is and follow My lead into this new dimension.

I say to you: DO NOT turn away when I present this coming hour of wonder. Embrace it. Embrace Me and know true heart satisfaction as you venture into a new realm of highly charged activity with your Lord and Master.
