Controversial Billboards Ask Catholics to Quit the Church

KELLER, Texas – (KDAF) - Billboards are popping up in parts of Texas asking Catholics to quit the church.

“I no longer want my name on their lists.I don’t want to be considered a Catholic at all,” said Zachary Moore.

Moore, who is with the Dallas-Fort Worth Coalition of Reason, is doing what a billboard near I-30 and Highway 360 urged. He has decided to quit the church because he does not like the stand the church has taken on contraception.

“The vast majority of Catholic women are using birth control and for the bishops to take the position that they have shows a severe disconnect with their own parishioners,” Moore said.

The Wisconsin-based Freed From Religion Foundation placed the billboard to send a message. The billboard reads: QUIT THE CHURCH PUT WOMEN’S RIGHTS OVER BISHOPS’ WRONGS.

Persecution will blow away the chaff from the Church. This is just theatrics.

Does anyone still wonder whether the Church and Christianity are under attack? “It feels good. Jesus is against it. Leave Jesus!”

I’ll bet the guy was never a Catholic. Just another poser. Barry’s Supreme Court yesterday voted that it is “constitutional” to lie about these kinds of things.

If you do not agree with the precepts of your religion, then you are wasting your time and the time of the church.

Go ahead and go. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. I am sure, since YOU are the one committing the mortal sin, the church should change the rule of God to make you feel better!

Idiots! The Church isn't a country club. If you do not like the rules STFU and leave!

This will have the diametrically opposite effect of the one they desire.

Still waiting for athiest groups to put up billboards urging people to quit islam. That won’t happen though. It would be considered racist and might hurt someone’s feelings.

This would only be valid after a careful and sincere evaluation of all of the precepts putting your own pride by the sidelines. Then I would agree with your statement.

Seems coordinated to me. Obama wages war on the Catholic Church and these signs start showing up.

The anti-jihad group SIOA put up help hotline advert boards on New York city buses for Muslim women trying to escape brutality in the home. Survived several court challenges.

I’m Catholic & these billboards just make me laugh.

But if a muzzie sees an anti-Islam billboard, he will fly into a rage of slice-&-dice.

Not the right attitude. I want everyone to stay and think about the terrible mistake they are making. Then go to confession and help build up the Church Militant. I want everyone to go to heaven. Even people I don't personally like.

It would be a hoot to put up some anti-Islam billboards with some kind of athiest sounding name—*Athiests United* or something like that.

“The vast majority of Catholic women are using birth control"

I seriously doubt it. What about the women who are over childbearing age? How about the women who can not have babies? How about the lesbian Catholic women(yeah, I am sure there are some)? How about the women who are not in any type of sexual relationship?

Coordinated? No way!

I bet there is a direct tie in with Obama's cash and these signs. Where is the FEC? Oh, Eric Holder controls them.

“The vast majority of Catholic women are using birth control and for the bishops to take the position that they have shows a severe disconnect with their own parishioners,” Moore said.

A significant minority of married Catholics are also committing adultery (in the sense that about a third have done it or will do it at least once). That's not evidence that the Church needs to abandon its position of that aspect of scripture, it's proof that we are flawed and need Church guidance and reinforcement of our higher nature's desire to follow God's Word.

I seriously doubt it

The vast amount of American catholic women do use BC of some type. This is from google. Of he sexually active Catholic women age 15-44, only 11% don't use any at all.

The data listed in the Guttmacher report, meanwhile, referred to current contraceptive use among “sexually active women who are not pregnant, post-partum or trying to get pregnant.” That is a smaller universe of women, and it shows that 68 percent of Catholic women used what are termed “highly effective methods:” 32 percent sterilization; 31 percent pill; five percent IUD.

Many “Catholics” are as much Catholic as Barbra Streisand.

A fact the anti-Catholic faction here on FR just doesn’t get.

“Catholic” is just a name placeholder for them.
