Your reply is remarkably in accordance with the recent post from the LDS(Mormon) Stake Presidents Blog - where it is honorable to alter or hide facts to place the church in the most favorable light possible. You forget, Apostle Romney didn’t equivocate he said -
“So I repeat again, what the presidency say as a presidency is what the Lord would say if he were here, and it is scripture. It should be studied, understood, and followed, even as the revelations in the Doctrine and Covenants and other scriptures” - from the previous post.
Jeff, it is clear that Romney places it as equivalent to the existing canon of mormon scriptures. His words make no ifs, ands or buts about it and it is endorsed by the GA since it is incorporated into your recent teaching manual.
Thus if the words of the prophet are to be considered equivalent to the current standard works, then there is very very very little room doctrinally to casually wave off those very same words as ‘opinions’ - as most mormon apologist-types do.
In reality then there has been no new scripture since polygamy was terminated (redefining “eternal”). The 1978 ‘addition’ was a negative revelation iirc, it hardly ranks as a new revelation. So in essence no new scripture since the turn of the last century. About of hundred years of silence Jeff.
BTW, 42 years is one thing, but coming from your apostles, prophets and duly authorized sources is another. It doesn’t matter if I sustain them or not - it is mormonism claims they are speaking.

BTW, I just got home from a wonderful Stake Conference here in Emmett, ID, where a member of the 1st Quorum of Seventy, Elederr Walker, spoke. He taught some great things that we have taken into our hearts and will live by, just as if though they were scripture, because they are the truth as revealed by one of our Savior's servants. He also bore a wonderful witness of Jesus Christ as the Savior of all mankind, and His atonement. Very powerful witness of Christ.
But, those remarks will not be in any Holy writ here, although I do believe they are recorded in Heaven...and in our hearts. Perhaps that helps clarify it for you...if, indeed, you are seeking for it to be clarified.
BTW, he is the head of the Church Temple committee and he indicated that he took the current Governor of Missouri through the new Temple there as part of the Open House, which temple will be deciated in a couple of weeks as our 147th temple. When I joined there were 12. It's a great work.
Anyhiw, he said at the end of the tour, that the Governor asked to speak, and he did. He indicated that the people of Missouri welcomed the Church and its new Temple to Missouri, despite the past where, according to him, the state of Missouri did not treat the LDS very wellback in the 1830s and 1840s, but that those days were now long past.
It was a pretty wonderful and historical thing in addition to the temple going in there, only two miles from liberty jail where Jospeh Smith was held.

This "discussion" clearly illustrates the lengths that mormonism will go to to obfuscate about doctrine....as busily as it is in trying to scrub all the factual words of prophets and leaders, it will be some time before the world will swallow whole the intent of the sect, which is to put more and more people under the control of the mormon corporation and fulfill its true "mission" which is filling its coffers with their hard-earned dollars.
I personally don't see that being in the sect for 42 years is any proof of anything except one blindly following a fraud.
Your posts have resulted in Jeff doing exactly that. The "circular" description fits the dodging and weaving that he did in trying to rebut your very plainly sourced words from mormon leaders.
Remember the mormon directive..."Some things that are true are not always useful".
We've seen the obedience to that directive in action.
Some of the ‘high priests’ in LDS inc are very adept at Mormon Taqqiya don’tchaknow. It all starts with learning to ‘answer the question you should have asked so you don’t have to address the questions raised.’ ... It all starts with being trained in how to avoid truth and divert the discussion.
Hardly, according to you he's just a wannabe as only the 12 and the first presidency are "official" Apostles, Seers and revelators.
